Joint Baby Shower!!

On June 19th, my mother-in-law threw my sister-in-law, Jessica, and I a joint baby shower. Did I mention that my sister in law is also pregnant, and her due date is 5 days before mine? SO exciting! She is expecting a little girl! So we had a joint family shower where mostly our family showed up. It was a really nice set up and it was a blast. My sister, Marcie and my Mom seriously spoiled little C with major amounts of baby essentials from sheets and blankets, to cute booties to teething toys and the boppy. So blessed by their generosity, as well as the rest of the families!!!

This is going to be a picture heavy post as I will explain lots of things through pictures. :)

The food set up. Adorable! The little containers of popcorn had a picture of a pregnant girl on it and they read "ready to pop". There was lots of other food but this was the cake/punch table.

Here I am really excited about some burp cloths. I was especially excited about my OSU one, but of course, that isn't the one shown in the picture.

This is Jessica's OSU/OU burp cloth. Guess that's what happens when you have a house divided?

The quilt made by Grandma Allen. She is aware of my husbands' love for plaid, and incorporated it into the quilt. Of course, we both LOVE it!

Diggin' through Lauren's present while she watches. She got me the cutest embroidered towel with baby C's name on it, but of course, I didn't take a picture with it.

One of my sister's gifts. The PeePee Teepees. I hear they come in verrrrry useful for boys!

Another one of my sister's awesome gifts. OSU booties!! I love love love them! :)

Jessica's gift from me, Sophie, the magical teething toy. (so I hear). I talked it up to her a few days before deciding I wanted to get her one, so I think she found it funny. :)

Not sure why I was making this face. I think because I was thinking how useful this gift is from my aunt.

Some adorable onesies from Jessica.

This is from my sister. It is a bib that says "I love my Aunt". It is adorable! She also had the infant sling and the stroller saver cover in there as well.

Going through a goody basket from my Mom. In here were multiple teething toys, baby toys, dishwasher holder for nipples and pacis, breast cream, and MORE!

My Mom also happened to get me Sophie!! :) Now somehow I just have to teach Pearl that this adorable squeak toy doesn't belong to her...

Mom also got me the Boppy!!

Pack and Play from the inlaws..

Here we were opening up our memory boxes from the MIL. She had the boy's baby books all done and lots of goodies in there, including blankets made from great great grandma, great grandma and grandma(MIL). This is a cute Bixby Spartans shirt that Chris and his brother had when they were little.

A tiny shirt that Chris or his brother came home in from the hospital..

Cake time! They were delicious!

This is a fun belly shot! Yay for our little ones joining us in August!

And a final picture of all of the loot. So blessed! I had to sit it all out so I could see it to help with Thank Yous. Again, another BIG thank you to all the family for spoiling me and baby C!

Broken Dog..

Well, I told you all about Pearl's injuries at the beginning of June. C and I put her on "bedrest" and didn't let her go on any walks, and she had to take an entire weekend off from the pool. She was starting to do much better, so we took her swimming again this past weekend. She did fine on Saturday and listened to me when I told her it was time to get out of the pool. Since she did so good Saturday we figured a quick dip on Sunday couldn't hurt. Sunday she swam great, we got her to use a raft more than jumping into the pool to be nicer to her toenails. When it was time to get out and dry off Sadie and Pearl started playing tag. Next thing I know my dog is attempting to continue to chase Sadie but with her right front paw in the air. Pitiful! So we made her sit down to dry and hope she just stepped on it wrong.

Well, she gimped around all that night and all the next morning. She wasn't wanting to put ANY weight on it at all. So, we ended up taking her to the vet on Monday just to be sure. $300 dollars later the vet tells us she doesn't have any fractures from what they can tell, and give us some pain meds. The pain meds definitely make a difference and I am glad to know my little fur baby is feeling a little better! Her paw is still swollen and red, but she seems to be bearing a little bit more weight on it. Hopefully she will be back to better in no time!

Pearl all doped up on Morphine...lol!

30 weeks, 1 day

Well lets see...

This past weekend Chris and I took our last "babymoon" and went to see the sights in Branson. I had never been before, it really is a cute little town. Lots to explore there, and we just barely touched on it. We left Friday after work, and we proceeded to do a little shopping and then go to Branson Landing which is their version of the Riverwalk. We ate at a splendid Mexican restaurant and I left with a happy tummy. SO GOOD!

Saturday we woke up early and headed out to Silver Dollar City. There were so many neat things to see/watch there, like blacksmiths making knives out of railroad spikes, glass blowing, pottery, and more. Chris rode the roller coasters around a few times and we did a little shopping there. We ate a cookie that was bigger than my head, and it was delicious. Bought some salt water taffy for the road.

Afterwards we got cleaned up and went to an early dinner at Mel's Hard Luck Diner. Its a 50s style diner where the waiter/waitresses sing to you in between serving you. Definitely cool. Our server was a guy who was in the top 20 on American Idol. The burgers were great and we finished it off with a root beer float for dessert. Did a bit more shopping, played a round of mini golf and called it a night.

Sunday was Tanger Outlet Mall day. We arrived before the shops opened and plotted out everywhere we wanted to visit. We got some INCREDIBLE deals on little boy clothes, and we purchased everything from newborn size to 2T. We couldn't help ourselves on some of it! I managed to get a new purse out of the deal, we got Chris some polo shirts and we bought a waffle maker. Afterwards we hit the road to return home. Overall, it was a nice little get away and we really enjoyed ourselves. (minus the sleeping on the hard beds part!)

Now for this week:

I had my 30 week appointment yesterday. Everything "looks great except my weight". Well, I am doing everything I am supposed to, so there really isn't much else for me to do. He said, "You might be one of those that retains lots of fluids". Awesome.

I also had my glucose tolerance test, where I had to drink a nasty flat orange soda drink that gave me a *horrible* headache. The headache lasted all night despite tips from the lady in the draw station to go home and eat protein to help, which I did, but to no avail. Ugh. I sure hope I passed so I don't have to do the 3 hour test, I don't think I could sit still that long...

Well, now for my 30 week update...

How far along? 30 weeks

Maternity clothes?: Some days yes, some days no.

Sleep: Lately it seems that I have been able to sleep through the night better. That is nice, but when I do have to get up I notice it is definitely taking more of an effort. I am doing everything in my power to not grunt as I hoist my body out of bed.

Cravings:
Vitamin Waters, I had a day last week where I HAD to have pineapple, yum!

Best moment this week: Talking with Chris and really discussing my feelings about everything and him supporting me regarding them.

Movement: Yep. It seems lately that he has really started moving more often than before.

Gender: Boy!

Labor Signs: None that I can tell.

Belly Button in or out? Still in. But it is getting awful shallow these days. The top of my belly button sure seems to point out a bit more, so we shall see what happens in the next 10 weeks.

What I miss: Seeing my feet. Being able to workout harder.

Weekly Wisdom: ZANTAC!

Milestones:
glucose test, 10 weeks to go!

Favorite Moments: Looking forward to my first shower this weekend, a joint family shower with my sister in law! So exciting!

busy, busy...

Been a busy few days, which explains my absence. We had my Grandmother's viewing and funeral last Friday and Saturday in OKC. It was great to see family, but the circumstances weren't what anyone would wish for. It was a great celebration of her entrance to heaven and it has been amazing to see my Grandad's strength. He is keeping busy and finding new things to do, I am so proud of him.

We stayed in a hotel that had one of those A/C units that kicks on and off all night. Needless to say, I slept HORRIBLE. I was so glad to return home to my own bed.

While C and I were in OKC, Pearl stayed with C's parents. Hooboy did she have a blast. She spent most of Friday and Saturday swimming, playing in the sprinklers and playing with Sadie, C's parent's Boston Terrier. Boy, does Pearl love swimming. We got her home Saturday evening and she was so tired she barely got up to come see us and wouldn't jump on anything. Later on, we noticed something was terribly wrong. She would let out a pitiful cry every time she stood up from laying on the ground or if she had to jump up on something. Sometimes there were multiple cries. She did have a bunch of bloody toenails (which is can be a regular occurance for her during the summer) and some of the pads of her feet had been scraped off. We worried for the past few days that maybe she had torn a muscle or strained something, but after a few days she is starting to get around better, but is still hesitant to jump. Now she is so spoiled she gets lifted onto each piece of furniture!

It is SO hard to get her out of the pool...she acts like it is the worst punishment ever!!

Looking forward to this weekend. Husband and I are taking a quick little getaway vacation, the last before baby (I am now 29 weeks...only 77 more days!!). I definitely am needing it, and am hoping for semi-cool weather. Haha..yeah right!!

28 weeks

How far along? 28 weeks

Maternity clothes?: Some and some not.

Sleep: Lately I have been using the restroom about 4 times in a row right before bed in hopes that I won't wake up in the middle of the night. The last two nights, it worked. Before that, not so much. Having trouble getting comfortable at night now. Staying on my sides just makes my shoulders hurt, and I wake up when I am not comfortable. I have added another pillow the last 2 nights, it seems to have helped.

Cravings: Mexican food. Anything sweet but usually in the form of ice cream/yogurt. Lifewaters and Vitamin Waters.

Best moment this week: Feeling baby C move, all while thinking about my Grandmother's passing. Bittersweet.

Movement: Yep. He moves quite a bit, his jabs are getting much stronger.

Gender: Frogs and snails and puppy dog tails.

Labor Signs: None that I can tell.

Belly Button in or out? Still in. Wondering if it is going to stay?

What I miss: Being able to climb stairs without getting winded.

Weekly Wisdom: Always keep Zantac handy...the heartburn is ridiculous!

Milestones: Start of the 3rd trimester!!! 3 more months!

Favorite Moments: Chris and I working on finishing baby C's room, making progress and excitedly taking pictures of our progress, talking about what it is going to be like once he is here and discussing just how different life will be. Enjoying our time together "just us two".

**I am going to try to post a 28 week pictures with this soon...**
