This was taken a few weeks ago.

I think Camden was laughing at Chris talking to him in a high pitched voice. Whatever the case, he was awfully giggly and we caught it on video!! :)

((ps- I am still learning how to upload and I am unsure why the resolution uploaded so low. You can change the resolution down at the right corner and that makes it a little better...))

A few weeks ago, late on a Friday night, Camden and I were just peacefully snuggling in our chair and I hear a loud CRASH, that literally almost made me jump out of my chair. Even the dog perked up and as we met eyes I know we were both thinking, "What was that?!?". While juggling Lil C I manage to get out of the chair and peek out of the blinds to see that our mailbox was still standing, so I figured there must not be much to worry about. (See, we live right at the center of a T intersection and we just KNOW that one day someone is going to turn the corner wrong/too fast and take out our mailbox).

Hubby gets home maybe an 30 minutes later and is questioning me as to what on earth was going on down the road. I hadn't had a clue as I only peeked out to check our mailbox. Chris said there was a wrecker towing a car at the end of the street, causing the street to be blocked off, as well as a cop car with its lights on. To get home, he had to drive the long way around the block.

Upon further inspection, we noticed the grass in the corner of our yard was very badly torn up. We followed the tracks up the yard, into the neighbors drive, and then back out to the street. Curiousity killed the cat husband and so he decided to walk down the street to see what was up. At this point, he noticed there was a person in the back of the cop car, and the wrecker with a wrecked little car with two front flat tires was pulling away.

Turns out someone did take that corner too fast.

They ramped the curb at the end of our yard, flew into the neighbors drive (they leave both of their Hondas parked in the driveway and the back of one of their cars got pretty scraped up). Then this person managed to end up back on the street but with a car that was no longer driveable.

Below are cell phone pictures of the trajectory. Notice neighbors driveway is empty (It was during the day when the pics were taken)

These pictures hardly do the damage justice, as it was snowy at picture time and it was covering up alot of the dirt tracks.

We are thankful no one got hurt, and the person who was driving recklessly got caught. In conclusion, drive careful people!

1 Year Ago Today..

One year ago today, was my first prenatal doctors appointment. The first day to ever see the little baby growing inside. That very same day I told my parents I was pregnant by surprising them with the picture from my ultrasound.

Today I have an adorable and happy five month old baby boy.

What a difference a year makes!

Surprise for Camden!

Last week, Camden and I stopped in to pick up Pearl at my parents house.

And there was a surprise waiting for us on the counter!

It was all pretty and packaged up with a sweet card from Grampa. He said that Grammy always gets Camden all the gifts, and this time he wanted to get something of his own for lil C.

It is odd that this was the exact baby cooker I had explored and watched tutorials online about, but hadn't figured out how to talk Husband into buying it.

Grampa read my mind! We are so excited to start using our new baby food maker and to start eating solid foods!

{The sweet card from Grampa}

stayed tuned for details of our foray into the solid food world. We may need to get rid of a rash first!

Non Specific Rash.

What is a non specific rash you ask? Beats me. It is exactly that apparently, non specific. Camden started an antibiotic last week to help him get rid of his nasty cough/cold that he's had for a month. He was started on Cefzil which is Pencillin based. He had some dry spots on his back before he started the antibiotic, but since taking it a rash has blossomed. And by blossomed I mean on his scalp, belly, arms, legs. It is especially bad on his lower back. I took him back to the pediatrician hoping he would have me switch meds or tell me what it was and that is what I got.

"A non specific rash". *facepalm*.

He said an allergy would have welts. He told us to keep taking the meds. And we are. In the meantime I have tried to think of ANYTHING that I may have possibly changed as we have never had a skin problem before. I went through the list. No new laundry detergent, foods, soaps, lotions, anything. He hasn't been too hot that I know of. He hasn't been wearing clothes made of anything odd.

So, I have no idea. I am keeping an eye on it to see how this turns out, but I can't for the life of me figure out what may have caused it. I am waiting to try solids (if he were to have a reaction, how would I know??) until I see if finishing the antibiotic clears him up. Time will tell.

{the infamous non specific rash}

Before this rash we had a slight problem with ringworm. We put cream on it and the skin started getting a little irritated. This picture below is why I may not win Parent of the Year award, as it "looks like a burn", according to the pediatrician.

On the plus side, this was over a week ago and it is almost completely healed up now. :)

But back to the rash, does that look familiar to anyone??

Where did my baby go?

With the beginning of the new year I can only stop and think about how drastically our lives changed in the last four months of 2010. So much has changed already! Where did this little baby go? (In case you are wondering, I found these a few weeks ago still on the memory card of our old camera)

naptime. Adorable!

My sister and Mom made/hung this sign. And Chris took the picture. He should have told me to turn the car seat so you can tell that there actually IS a baby in there! He's just sooo little!

Camden and Kaitlyn's first picture together! (Look how adorably round Camden's face is? He looks so much bigger than 7 pounds!)

Great Grandparent cuddle time!

Father and Son's first picture. I love it.

Epidurals are awesome!

Camden's first bath. Isn't he a cutie? Man, he had more hair then. And it was darker.

Five Months: A Letter

Dear Camden,

As usual, I still can't believe it is time to start writing another letter! We have been busy this past month, and again had lots of "firsts".

{Camden and Cousin Lauren being read the Christmas story by Cousin Andy and Cousin Katie.}

You had your first Christmas, which was a blast. You also gave us a nice little "Christmas Miracle" by sleeping ALL. NIGHT. LONG. This was really enjoyable because Mom forgot to set the alarm so we *ALL* overslept by an hour. It took you another three weeks to do this again, and it is still few and far between.

Regarding sleep, you are starting to get better at sleeping for longer stretches. You are still waking up an average of 3-4 times a night, but Mommy no longer picks you up or feeds you. Instead we pat your back, plug you with a paci and turn on your sleep sheep that makes noises and let you settle yourself back to sleep. So far it has been working out okay, fingers crossed that you keep this trend up and can learn to sleep longer stretches!

You went in for your four month appointment on Jan 3rd, but you were too sick to get your 4 month shots. Poor baby, you had a nasty cough and were all kinds of stopped up. That particular cold stuck around for two weeks or more, icky.

You seem to be attempting to work out some sort of routine (finally!!). You are eating about five times a day, anywhere from 2-8 ounces. You still nurse, but Mom usually pumps as it works better with our schedule. Total in a day you are eating anywhere from 25-30 ounces, but are usually on the lower end of the 25.

{First taste of cereal on Christmas with Cousin Kaitlyn}

You are loving daycare. I will walk in to pick you up for the day and you will be in the corner playing with the toys and just talking up a storm. The other babies will be so quiet, but I can hear ya before I am even inside the room! So cute. They always ask me, "Does he sleep in a crib?" And I answer "yes" and I ask why, and they say it is usually because you are SO good at falling asleep on the floor. They say as soon as they move you to your crib, you are awake and not having naptime. You just play yourself to sleep! Just like your Daddy you are always on the go, until you pass out because you just can't possibly fit anymore into your day without a little rest!

You had your first taste of rice cereal which you seem to enjoy. You are getting pretty good at eating the rice cereal and oatmeal, we are really working on it! I think you tend to favor the oatmeal more. We don't give it to you every night though, once we get a routine and hopefully get this sleeping thing worked out, we hope to start you on some more solid foods. Yay!

{The very first bite of rice cereal!}

You are getting so much better at rolling. You still roll really well from your belly to your back, and you are awful quick about it. The first time you rolled over at daycare they said it happened so fast that no one saw it! The way you roll is adorable, you push your little bottom in the air, then use the momentum to swing those hips over and flip yourself. You are pretty good at scooting yourself all over the floor when you are having tummy time as well. You will be quite the mover before too long! They say at daycare you are rolling both ways, but so far at home all we have really seen is getting almost all the way there but then getting stuck on that shoulder of yours while rolling. Mommy has become good at being a "human spatula". Since you are rolling, sometimes you will do it at night while you are sleeping. When this happens you tend to wake up on your back and furious that you are that way. This is where Mommy comes in and flips you over, plugs you with your paci and leaves until the next time!

When eating, you can hold your own bottle now. Such a big boy! The first day that you were really good at this was 1-11-11. (I had to note the date. Too fun!)

You finally learned how to actually JUMP in your jumperoo. Since you figured that out you really seem to enjoy your time playing in it. You get the biggest grin on your face once you realize you are responsible for the jumping!

You are still intrigued with your 'big sister'. You watch her constantly, and you even reach to pet her. If she comes and sits by you, you will stroke her. Sometimes you realize what you are doing, others you don't, but either way it is just precious.

{Jake is also a big fan of Camden-time!}

You had your first haircut to trim down all of the extra "flyaways" sticking off the top of your head. Your dad insisted. :) Now your hair is soft and fuzzy like a little baby duckling!

We have had a nasty bout with ringworm in the last two weeks. SO gross, we have no idea where it came from. Hopefully we can get that all cleared up and go without bandaids soon! You have also been dealing with a HORRENDOUS cold, that you are currently on antibiotics for. We have been to the doctor a few times though and so far no ear infections or chest congestion, so hopefully you can get well soon.

You absolutely love to play with you feet and have been doing so since Christmas. This makes diaper changes especially hard as you love to put those feet in your mouth! Some days I will pick you up from daycare and you will have wet socks, so I know what you have been up to!

You are wearing size two diapers, but our supply of twos is getting low and I am tempted to just go ahead and move you up to size threes before too long. You are wearing mostly 6 month clothes, as 3-6 month tends to be a little tight or show off your 'midriff' if it isn't a onesie. You are growing so fast little man!

Little C, you continue to be the light of my life. Your Daddy and I love you so!

As long as I'm living, my baby you'll be,

4 Months, 3 weeks, 6 days.

Ha, how do you like that for a title?

Anyhow, the mister went in Jan 3rd for his four month well baby check, and guess what? He was too sick for those shots as you may recall. We scheduled an appointment for two weeks later as the doctor assumed he would be well.

That appointment came on Tuesday, a little over two weeks since our last appointment, and guess what? Camden was STILL sick. Now of course, while we are with the doctor he's kicking his legs like he does in the bathtub, playing/kicking with the the paper on the table making all sorts of racket and trying to eat the paper while laughing and smiling. Basically in the best. mood. ever. The doctor states "well that's one happy baby for being sick, lets do the shots". While waiting for the shots, little mister became extremely fussy. He was almost like a little bipolar patient, he was so labile! Maybe he knew what was coming. We got our shots, and the poor thing had the biggest crocodile tears streaming down his face! Gosh, that part is just so sad to see.

While the doctor was in, he asked how long Lil C had been hanging out with his friend the cough. I said since the beginning of the year and he stated that it was "too long for baby to still have cough" and so he FINALLY gave us some antibiotics. I think he had hoped the problem would resolve itself without the intervention of meds, but it hasn't. Camden gave some nice coughs and some good snotty boogies while the doctor was in the room, and was almost rattling while breathing when the doctor checked his ears. I think the doctor was sold on the antibiotic when I mentioned Camden had spit up the day before and there was green mixed in with the spit. (sorry that was a little graphic).

Yay for finally getting on some antibiotics! We have another check up in two weeks to make sure it nipped everything in the bud. We will have to see if it helps, fingers crossed for sure. I am tired of the sickies and having a fussy baby who doesn't like to eat when sick!

Even though we did stats two weeks earlier, we did them again.

Weight: 15.9 ounces (almost 8 oz in 2 weeks, not bad considering he fusses when eating...)
Height: 26 inches (she said he grew an inch in two weeks. I'm thinkin' she measured wrong!)
Head: 41 cm

Percentiles according to the CDC chart? 50%, 75% and 25% respectively.

And that's where we are at!

First Visit to See Santa

Here we are, waiting in line to see Santa. There was so much going on, Camden was just amazed!

This was a little boy in front of us, who was not so fond of Santa. Poor thing! We were wondering how our little guy was going to take it and...

Here Dad is going in for the hand off...

Camden just checked Santa out, there was just so much to look at! The picture that they took at Bass Pro turned out fabulous, they had a little squeaky toy that got his attention and they snapped the shot. Amazing! Their picture turned out better than all the ones that I attempted to take with my camera. So, of course, we bought a few extra. Such a handsome little man telling Santa he wants a new pair of Uggs in size, wait.. some new toys. :)

Camden's First Haircut, er, Hairtrim.

Camden was obviously more interested in his feet...

But we still managed to get our haircut!

Hubby insisted on cutting Lil C's hair right around Christmastime. I say cut, but really it was just a trim of the 'fly aways'. (notice the guard is on in the pictures!) We were just evening out his hair as he was growing some verrrrry long scragglers! Of course, Mommy had to document the entire process.

It's too cold...

I miss this weather. Is it spring yet?

(Random factoid: these pics were taken like the day before i went into labor and I juuuust got them off the camera)

Doesn't that look refreshing? It looks SO much better than the current snowy weather we are having.

Come on APRIL! I need me some flowers and greenery, I don't do winter.

Friday, January 7, 2011

Well, it is the end of yet ANOTHER week. Where does time go? This week has been rather uneventful, but with nicer than normal weather. I hear this is going to be changing in the next 24 hours. :( I find this unfortunate as lil C and I are still struggling with our colds, and I feel like cold weather isn't going to make this any easier. Come on SUMMERTIME!

I am excited for this weekend. Namely because I don't have much planned. At all.

I need that.

The highest priority on my list? Sleep. I want to catch up on my sleep. And it sounds delightful. Besides that I want to research making baby food, as Camden is going to be starting solids really soon, and I want to whip up a few things myself. I hear it can be really easy, and I would much rather give him fresh/organic anyway. So, we will see how that fares here in the next few weeks.

Other than that, I plan to snuggle extra with my boys.

Mmmmm. Perfect!

Camden 4 Month Stats

We went to our four month appointment yesterday. The little mister was due for some shots, but due to a nasty head cold the doctor recommended we wait two weeks and delay the shots. Poor Lil C has a nasty cough and he sounds horrible, but is still smiling. The doctor said there is nothing in his chest and his ears are fine, and that there is nothing to give him. I am already doing all the things I can do, like elevate the mattress, use nasal saline drops with nose sucker, use a humidifier. There's nothing I can give him because "he's too little" and I have a feeling I better get used to hearing that, at least until he is 2.

Anyway, here are his stats:

Height: 25 inches (50 percentile)
Weight: 15lbs 1.5 ounces (50 percentile)
Head: 41 cm (25 percentile)

He gave us the go ahead for baby foods, so I am excited to start trying that out after we master the rice and oatmeal! :)

Stuff My Baby Likes (And Mom too!) 4 Month Edition

Baby Legs
Have you guys seen these? I LOVE them. Which is not what I can say for my husband as he thinks that leg warmers are strictly a girl thing. But what is amazing about them is they are fabulous for being at home. Meaning, I can put long socks on him and a onesie and viola! Diaper changing is a snap. Plus, I think they are pretty yummy. I am hoping they will be pretty handy come time to crawl. If I wanna protect those little knees I will just put some "socks" on them!

Scout is the Leapfrog dog that you can personalize to say baby's name, as well as pick out baby's favorite songs, colors, bedtime lullabys. Camden loves his Scout and Mom and Dad thorougly enjoying singing along with Scout during diaper changes and such.

V-Tech Car/Ball
V-Tech has some pretty cool toys as well. Camden loves to sit in Daddy's lap and drive his car. It's pretty cute to watch and he's actually pretty good and steering the wheel. Husband is more than ready for him to be go kart ready, but I am not in any hurry to rush anything. :) The ball is neat because it will encourage crawling when we get to that stage. I think it's pretty cool how it moves around on its own.

I read a review of this on another Mom blog and let me just say, AWESOME. I absolutely LOVE mine. It is much easier on Little C's nose, and he definitely doesn't seem to mind it. There is not much crying involved with the Nosefrida whereas with the bulb aspirator he would cry and cry. I felt horrible when he had that nasty cold and we had to stick that nose sucker WAY up there. With this one you just stick it at the end of the nostril and suck in with your lungs really hard. I feel like my lungs can suck better and faster than the bulb aspirator can, which is why I find this amazing. It has a filter in it and supposedly that keeps the adult from getting sick, but who really knows. I'm not too worried about getting sick, especially at this point. Since I am breastfeeding any germs I get I will make antibodies for them, which is what he will need anyway.

And these are our current favorites. I'm sure there will be many more to come!
